Press-Ready Bio

Born of Italian immigrants and union activists, this Long Island, NY native knows about the passionate struggle of the American dream. Joe Iadanza is a late bloomer whose songwriting did not become prolific until his early 30’s with the birth of his first child. “I started writing because I felt I had to. I wanted my daughter to grow up with a dad who followed his dreams.”

With his sophomore LP, “All in Good Time”, Iadanza has crafted an album of songs that speak for themselves with a rare eloquence. These 10 tracks, recorded by Evan Brubaker (Holly Figueroa, Rachel Lyn Harrington), and mastered by Grammy Award winner David Glasser, have been stripped to their very essence. Featuring Carolin Pook on violin, Craig Akin on double bass, Julie Wolf on piano, and Gathering Time on backing vocals, the unadorned production delivers a working-class austerity, revealing a gifted scene-painter and storyteller. Recalling Stevens, Cohen, and Springsteen, Joe’s music is rooted in classic folk: honest and raw, and supported by talented musicians playing real instruments.

Creating “All In Good Time” was an entirely new process for Joe — a process not without it’s struggles. “This new album was hard for me,” says Joe, “I went in with a vision of a Springsteen-esque full-band masterpiece and came out with a very quiet folk record. The initial sessions just weren’t working and I was so frustrated, confused and angry… On the third day, I went into the booth to re-demo the album’s closing track, ‘American Dream’. I just wanted to clear my head about it, so I laid it down solo. All of the frustration that I was feeling just fueled a different version of the song. Evan looked at me and said, ‘we could just scrap the other sessions and do the whole record like this….’”

The result was an entirely new album; an album completely different than envisioned: simple, soulful, real.

“This was a big change for me. I’m finally starting to write from a deeper part of myself; the part that knows we all are in this together, and that we have to help pull each other up; the part that has to live in the world and be part of the human process.”

So, “All in Good Time”… What does that mean to Iadanza?

“If anything, it’s a reminder to be present, to be patient, and to always pick yourself up when you fall.”

Quotes & Buzz

“You rocked the joint! You’re really coming into your own.” John Platt – Host of WFUV’s Sunday Breakfast & On Your Radar at The Living Room, NYC.

“You are so awesome – as a musician and a person. It was great to have you in the studio. Your story and motivation are inspiring to me. Thanks so much for making the WHUD airwaves sound amazing with your music!” Catherine Michaels – Host of Night Rhythms on WHUD.

“Take one part James Taylor, add some John Prine, throw in a dollop of Harry Chapin, and you have the voice of Joe Iadanza. Joe brings a fresh perspective as well, to the storytelling prowess of all three of the aforementioned singer/songwriters…It’s all absolutely delightful.” – Richard Cuccaro – Acoustic Live! in New York City and Beyond.

“Joe, Thanks – to you and the band. It was a special night of music and a wonderful start to the Eclectic’s season. You and the band have an intersting, engaging and unique sound and a lot of chemistry on the stage. We’re delighted to have been the first stop on what I anticipate will be a very sucessful career. When you’ve made it big, and you and the band are touring the country, I hope you’ll tell your agent that it’s okay to book you, once again, at the Eclectic Cafe.” Karen Finkenberg – The Eclectic Cafe – Bay Shore, NY

“Iadanza’s Traveling Salesman combines the best elements of folk/rock and does justice to the legacy of artists such as James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Jim Croce by securing a place for their style of music well into the 21st century. Iadanza is adept at changing gears, infusing energy into more up-tempo tunes and delivering his ballads with quiet grace. I found myself hoping this Traveling Salesman would be here to stay, because whatever he’s selling next, I’m sold.” TheCelebrityCafe.com
