Songs for Liza

June 10th, 2010

Help us bring some joy to the Furlani Family by dedicating a song for their daughter Liza… Visit: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=131168116909013, and read on to find out more.

Meet Elizabeth and Emily Furlani, two beautiful healthy children. That’s what Susan and Ricci Furlani thought until they both starting walking on nothing but their toes. So at the ages of 8 and 6 they took them to an orthopedic screening and it was here that two young doctors noticed signs of a rare genetic disorder called Sanfilippo Syndrome.

Sanfilippo is a disorder that is progressive, and degenerative – claiming its victims little by little until they are gone. There is no cure.

The Furlani’s have been living with San Filippo for over 20 years now, much longer than anticipated by doctors and medical experts.

We’re starting this group because Liza’s health has turned and we’d like to bring some support and joy to the the beautiful family that we all have come to know as “The Flying Furlanis”.

Sue and Ricci have always been big supporters of independent music and found that the girls responded joyfully to music too. Several years ago they opened their home to musicians and appreciators and started the “No Place Special” house concert series. It has become a wonderful place to play and experience the love of this incredible family. Their strength and spirit has risen far beyond what could be expected given such incredible circumstances.

We’re asking musicians out there to join us in dedicating a chain of “Songs for Liza”, in a show of support to the Furlanis during this difficult time.

So, please take a second to post a youtube video link below – or it could even be an mp3 link – or simply tell us about a song you dedicated during a recent performance in honor of Liza, a beautiful angel.

Thanks so much for bringing the love! It means more than you could possibly imagine.
