The “April Showers Bring May Flowers” Tour – In Your Home
January 7th, 2009
My friend Joe Crookston had a wonderful idea which he turned into a wonderful opportunity. He was gazing out on the hills of Ithaca (I hear the view from his home is glorious). The rooftops were all covered with snow and he imagined all the warm people inside. He started thinking about how much he loves to share his music just like I do, and about the millions of people in NY alone that have yet to hear it.
In his epiphany, he envisioned and compiled a House Concert Tour. House concerts are literally “Concerts in Your Home”. They are becoming a very popular new way to experience music and they’re happening all over the country! So, with his permission, I endeavor to extend his brilliance and offer to you this beautiful idea.
The idea is that I would perform 15 house concerts in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Metro Area between April and May, 2009. We’ll call it “The April Showers Bring May Flowers Tour”. Friends and music fans just like you would host a concert in your home. Each host would invite 15, 20, 35 friends/family to their home, and I would come over with a few of my friends and play.
The event wouldn’t need to be fancy, just a comfortable place for people to relax, and a space for us to stand and laugh and play and introduce my music to new people. We could even have a little food and share some drink together. I’d set out a basket for a suggested donation: ($10-15 – you choose), and maybe even sell a few CDs. People would have a great time and feel that it was an evening very well spent.
What do you think? Would you be interested in hosting one of these concerts? We could do it together! Sometime from the Middle of April through the end of May? Pick at date, we’ll see if it works.
Musicians say all the time, “it’s hard to get audiences to go out for live music”. I say, let me bring the music to you! Why travel to perform when millions of people right here in my backyard still haven’t heard me play?
So, would you like to be a host? If so, I’ll help with any details or questions. If you’ve never hosted a house concert, please visit: http://concertsinyourhome.com/beahostintro.html It’s a short video introduction to hosting house concerts. I’ll help in any way I can and we’ll make it a great night!
If you’re interested, willing or even just curious, drop me a note on the contact page to let me know and we’ll work out the details!
