Recording Update - News and Photos!

April 5th, 2008

Yes Yes Yes!!! We’ve finished all of the drum, bass and percussion tracking as of April 3rd!

I forgot to tell everyone that due to scheduling issues and deadlines, I was unable to work with Rob at Carvel Studios.

Thankfully, Jon Castelli at Sound Surgeon Long Island has HUGE ears and a wonderful facility. He’s taken us in and is doing a great job in getting sounds and at helping me produce the record.

Joe Hertenstein and Craig Akin are amazingly tight in the studio! Their skill is beyond what I expected and the songs sound really beautiful so far. We’ve had to push guitar tracking a few days, due to some noise we found in the recording system. But, I’ll be back in there at the end of next week, after Jon has had a chance to clean up some cable issues and get rid of the noise.

I’m still working out some of the overdubs concepts in my head. My friends Glen, Hillary and Stu will be doing backup vocals. They have a group called “Gathering Time” and they will bring a nice 3-part harmony to some of the songs. I also will be bringing in some slide Dobro, and I’m talking with David and Adrian Mowry from Beaucoup Blue to see if we can work out the timing for a session.

All in all - I’m excited to continue the work and I’ll be very happy to bring it to all of you when it’s done. Here are some pictures from the sessions! I’ll see about making a formal gallery soon.

Thanks for listening!

Love,
Joe
