Keeping it in the Family! Sort of…

December 30th, 2007

Carvel StudiosI just got back from Carvel Studios in Monroe, NY. For those of you who do not know, Carvel Studios is run by one Robert Iadanza. Now, I know what you’re thinking… You’re thinking, “Oh! Cool! Joe has family in the business and you guys have been working together for years.”

You’d think that; but you’d be mistaken. What has actually happened is quite a bit more random.

One day on myspace.com, I ran a search on “Iadanza” to see who was out there, and I ended up linking through to Rob’s myspace page. Iadanza is not a common name, and I never knew that there was one of us in Monroe, NY. I sent him a friend request and he wrote back thinking it was a joke. Alas, no joke! We’re not exactly sure of the direct lineage that connects us, but I will be looking into it. His family is from Sicily, while mine is from near Naples.

Regardless, he’s a very talented engineer and a budding producer. You can hear his work on John Garrison’s “Above the Cosmos” released this past year. John is formerly with the now defunct band “Budapest”, but can be found (I’m told) touring these days as James Blunt’s bassist. It’s a great indie record with a lot of pop sensibilities… Definitely check it out.

Robert gave me the grand tour today and we even laid down a couple of quick live tunes with me and a couple of mic’s. It was a great time and I’ll be bringing the boys there in March to record the record.

This is it for 2007… So have a Happy New Year and I’ll be back with more in 2008!

Many Many Blessings and Much Much Love!

Joe
