In the Eternal Light of Her Divine Smile

In the Eternal Light of Her Divine Smile
The Sun beats down indiscriminately
And the beggars cower in fear
Pushing and shoving
You angle for a precious patch
Of darkness to call your own
The slivers of shade provided for by
Narrow doorways and tattered awnings
Are not enough to defend you from
The blazing light of your own soul
Even the trees,
Which would normally be willing
To lend a leaf in support of your futile crusade,
Have dropped their shields
To honor the Great One’s arrival
What are you afraid of?
You can’t be burned by this Love
Give me your hand and
Together we will dance until
Our faded wares have
Burned up and turned to dust
Naked, Brilliant and Alive
In the Eternal Light of Her Divine Smile
I will hold You and Love You
And deliver You back Home
